Partnerships for progress

A key ingredient in the success of Shell LiveWIRE programmes around the world is partnership.

Shell LiveWIRE programmes are designed, managed, resourced and delivered by a partnership of local and national organisations that share the same common goal - a thriving small business sector in which young people are playing their full part. These partnerships are unique to each country and are developed during the feasibility stage of the programme. We believe that strong local partnerships give the programme added sustainability, while enhancing its credibility and profile. The partnerships are led by the local Shell company and can involve a mix of NGOs, private sector businesses and government departments. Partnerships are subject to an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding), and partners are invited to participate in a Programme Advisory Board. Partners don’t just contribute financially - often the time and expertise they bring is more important to the success of the programme. Providing access to expert mentoring, in-house training, special deals on products and services, and other in-kind support are areas in which partners really make a difference. LiveWIRE aims to create the most effective partnerships by bringing together those who can provide the right combination of expertise, contacts, knowledge and resources to meet local needs. This ensures that the programme’s offer meets the development needs of young people and strengthens existing enterprise provision, often by filling an important gap. There are over 60 partners worldwide playing an important role in the development and delivery of LiveWIRE.
